Creating Rammendi was a cut-and-sew job, like what our grandmother girls used to do, from which the entire Franca e Allegra furniture line is inspired. The shapes of the tables and coffee tables have been broken down and reassembled into complementary furniture pieces (shelves, nightstands, consoles, and benches) with the addition of durable and sustainable tops made of 100% recycled and recyclable material.
The inspiration: the sustainability of grandmothers.
Don’t throw anything away: the stained tablecloths, the torn clothes, but especially the secrets. Patch, fix, tell stories, make sense of things. A new, more beautiful sense. It is with this circular economy that we grew up, before we knew what it was. A kind of Japanese kintsugi, but without the gold, which grandmothers girls like Franca e Allegra never liked ostentation. Neither did other people’s gossip about them.

Every year, more than 400 million tons of plastic waste end up contaminating soil and oceans. What if instead they were reused to create something beautiful, and something useful? That’s what Plastiz® does, making panels like those used in the Franca e Allegra – Rammendi roofing plans. A recycling process readable in the material itself, which does not hide the plase fragments rather shows them, with a certain pride. The pride of those who know that good design, if it is also good for the planet, is good twice over.

Furniture from the Rammendi collection is made with mdf wood bases machined and then hand-finished to achieve a natural roundness, emphasized by an ultra-glossy lacquer finish. A recycled polystyrene top from the “Glass” series by Plastiz® is then added to these bases. A sustainable choice that creates a vibrant color combination of unexpected contrasts and refined assonances. The final effect is a playful aesthetic that conceals the absolute robustness of the construction and the strength of the glassy-textured, but unlike glass light and unbreakable, top.
